Yes, yes, I know. It has been a while since I’ve made a post. But it’s time! The past two weekends are definitely something to write about. On two separate occasions, I was able to have normally separate areas of my life…collide. Let me explain:
It started with my Bridal Shower, thrown by my wonderful Hoffmann Aunts, specifically Auntie Kass. In typical Kass fashion, everything was cute as a button! So many of my loved ones were there, including people who made quite a treck: Rachie came from Iowa, Beth and Noelle from Illinois, and Kelli completely surprised me by coming from LaCrosse. It was so cool to see people from my family and some of Derek’s all in one place! All of my grandmas and grandmas-to-be, my mom and mom-to-be, sister and sister-to-be, assistant aunt Tammy, and all my Hoffmann aunts and all the Hoffmann cousins (girls only, of course) joined together and made me feel so loved! It was a day full of excitement for the marriage to come. I was showered with gifts upon gifts….and man, were they good! Derek made me FaceTime him that night, so I could “show him the loot.” A special S/O to all who made the morning as wonderful as it possibly could have been. I absolutely loved it!
Another exciting weekend, was when another two sets of “my people” came together. This time, it was my college friends with some friends from home. Jamison, Skipper, Nate and I set out for Chicago Saturday morning, Derek came down from Michigan and we met my up with my Trin sistas downtown. The girls and guys each rented a room right off the Magnificent Mile….and it was Magnificent! Everyone hit it off and we had a great time. It was wonderful to catch up with old friends, and watch the two sets become friends themselves! We did a ton of walking (thanks to Siri’s incompetence), but the weather was perfect. Navy Pier, Gold Coast, and the Gino’s East – we hit as much as we could in the little bit of time that we were together. Derek and I even were able to wake up a little early and go for a walk around the city. It was nice to see my guy after such a long time too!
Two times in two weeks…different areas and people in my life all coming together. All this excitement is giving me glimpses of what the wedding will look like. It will be one huge happy day filled with people coming together from different areas of both mine and Derek’s lives. YAY! Now, just 54 days ’till Derek’s life and my life officially unite!
